So... you've freed some tension, got your breathing sorted and warmed up your voice. What next?

Engaging your audience is key. Sounds obvious, but it's often forgotten in the rush to get started.

Here are a couple of things for you to think about:

  • Try to remember that people want to hear what you have to say and are willing you to communicate effectively with them. They're on your side!

  • Keep vocal pitch varied and remember to pause after you make a point, which helps the audience to absorb what you've said. Pace is very important, both on screen and in an auditorium so try not to speak too quickly or the room may miss your message.
